The Oregon School for the Deaf is excited to announce that it has been chosen
by “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” for an extreme makeover this coming
week. Students, parents and staff were surprised this afternoon by the arrival of
the famed bus and Mr. EMHE himself: Ty Pennington. We are thankful for the
outpouring of community support and are thrilled to have been chosen for this
unforgettable opportunity of a lifetime. THANK YOU, EMHE, sponsors,
volunteers and friends!
Creating even more excitement, the students and staff learned that Starkey
Foundation will be bringing students to Minnesota for a school family vacation
and hearing aid give-away. Oregon School for the Deaf Director, Patti Togioka,
was overwhelmed by the generosity of Starkey Foundation to provide hearing
aids to students, staff, alumni and parents. Bringing the school to Minnesota is
beyond her wildest dreams, she told the crowd.
On behalf of the Oregon School for the Deaf, the Oregon Department of
Education, the staff, parents and students, we wish to thank Rich Duncan
Construction Inc, the wonderful staff at “Extreme Makeover Home Edition” the
Starkey Foundation and all of the amazing companies and individuals who have
poured so much energy into our school.
The Emmy award winning reality program “Extreme Makeover: Home
Edition,” now entering its 8th season, is produced by Endemol USA, a
division of Endemol Holding. It’s executive-produced Brady Connell and
George Verschoor. David Goldberg is Chairman, Endemol North America.
The show airs Sundays from 8:00-9:00 p.m., ET on ABC.
